One of the greatest mysteries surrounding the Green Bay Packers is whether or not Jordan Love will be a quality NFL starting quarterback. The Packers, of course, have bet their immediate future on the belief that he will be. As training camp as progressed, more and more people, fans and media alike, have been jumping aboard the Love Train.
While former Packers linebacker AJ Hawk has never been publicly critical of Love, he also has not been an outspoken supporter of the new quarterback in Green Bay. Whether this is due to his close friendship with Aaron Rodgers or that had just wanted to wait and see how Love looked is anyone’s guess. However, he had some high praise for the first year starter on The Pat McAfee Show yesterday.
Former Green Bay Packers Linebacker AJ Hawk Believes in Jordan Love

Yesterday on The Pat McAfee Show, Packers fan/contributor Ty Schmidt was talking about how far Love had come since he first arrived in Green Bay in 2020. McAfee agreed as they marveled at Love’s throw from family night that split two defenders and found Aaron Jones in the end zone.
McAfee then asked Hawk how he feels about Jordan Love. Hawk responded:
“Honestly, I feel pretty good about Jordan Love. I called one of his games in college, and dude could sling it. But like Ty said, he does look more comfortable now , just watching clips of him. Even seeing how he’s interacting with his teammates, he seems to have grown a lot and be more comfortable now.
“So we’ll see how they do as a team. Good or bad, I don’t think a whole lot into all these clips that are coming out… it’s not a bad thing, though, if your team or player is putting out a bunch of awesome plays though.”
For Hawk, he needs to see the Packers compete against other teams before he feels comfortable making a decision on whether or not they will, as a team, be good. Pat McAfee, for his part, believes that Green Bay is going to be a pretty good team this year.
It is a good point, though, that we cannot put too much stock into film from training camp practices, especially within the first two weeks. The players are not even wearing pads for the first week. That being said, good plays on film can do a lot to hype up a fanbase, and the Packers’ fanbase is hoping for something great to root for in 2023.
