NFL: Aaron Rodgers Gets Cut From $36 Million Contract (Breaking)

NFL: Aaron Rodgers has earned over $305 million dollars throughout his career.  To say that he has made a killing in the league is an understatement.  His latest contract, 3 years $150 million, was the most annual he has made in his entire career.  However, it was reported today that Aaron Rodgers has been cut from one contract that he has held for over 12 years.

State Farm has become synonymous with Aaron Rodgers over the past decade. A multi-million endorsement contract with the superstar quarterback many years ago was exactly what the insurance giants hoped for. It worked as Rodgers’ partnership with State Farm blossomed into one of the most successful NFL advertising campaigns ever. Moreover, it made him one of the league’s highest-paid endorsers.

This iconic partnership came to an abrupt end on Tuesday when Rodgers and State Farm called it quits. It’s the end of an era, without a doubt.  During the last 12 years, Rodgers made about three million dollars per year from State Farm, which would make his career earnings in excess of $36 million.

“We wish Aaron the best in his future endeavors.”

As reported earlier, Rodgers and State Farm were headed for a divorce, a State Farm spokesperson told NBC News via email. Now everything is official. There was no explanation given as to why the partnership ended.

It all started when Rodgers coined the phrase “Discount Double Check” in 2011. Rodgers used the catchy phrase to celebrate his touchdowns, which also happens to be a State Farm insurance program. The phrase became highly popular in football and has taken off on its own. In addition to celebrating his touchdowns with the phrase, Rodgers often uses it in interviews as well.

In 2017, the 10-time Pro Bowl quarterback even trademarked the phrase “Discount Double Check.” Rodgers is the only one who can legally use that phrase in a commercial setting. Even so, players and fans alike continue to use the phrase casually.

After Rodgers’ departure, Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback and reigning NFL MVP Patrick Mahomes is set to dominate State Farm’s advertising campaign.
