Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams sure did put up some video game like stats together when they were both on the Green Bay Packers. Unfortunately, that video game mindset seems to have leaked into the brains of some football writers and analysts who think that impossible trades can happen in the real world and not just inside their franchise mode on Madden.
A New York Jets Writer Really Believes the Las Vegas Raiders Would Trade Davante Adams to Reunite with Aaron Rodgers
Yesterday, Rodgers and Garrett Wilson, who wears number 17 for the Jets, connect on a beautiful touchdown throw and catch. After practice, Rodgers posted a picture of himself and Wilson on Instagram with the caption “Always love my 17s,” and he tagged Wilson and Davante Adams.
This, in turn, led New York Jets writer Connor Hughes to make the bold prediction that the Las Vegas Raiders will trade Adams to the Jets at some point this season:
Aaron Rodgers raved about Garrett Wilson today after practice — voluntarily. Brought up how the biggest difference between #Panthers joints & one vs #Bucs was No. 17.
He then posted this on IG.

Now, if the Jets do not have the draft picks to get a trade for Bakhtiari done, they certainly do not have the picks they would need to get Davante Adams.
Remember, the Jets sent a conditional second round pick to the Packers as part of the trade package for Aaron Rodgers. This second round pick becomes a first round pick if Rodgers plays 65% of the offensive snaps in 2023. Which, of course, means that the Jets cannot use their first or second round pick in 2024 in trade negotiations because Green Bay could end up with either one of them.
That leaves the Jets with just one pick in each of the subsequent rounds in 2024. Sure, they could trade 2025 draft picks, but a team like the Raiders is going to want something more immediate. Brian Gutekunst was able to get a first and second round pick for Adams, who was going to hold out and not play for the Packers anyway.
The Raiders have Adams under contract until after the 2026 season. A trade package highlighted by the Jets’ 2024 third round pick in exchange for him just is not going to cut it.
Anyways, Hughes got over 1,000 likes on his Tweet, which was probably his goal. At least, one hopes it was. As a professional and credentialed writer, one would assume he really knows how ridiculous the idea of the Jets trading for Adams is.
