NBA rumors: As far as untouchable superstars go in the league, Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards has got to be sitting somewhere at the top of this list. After all, based on what we saw from the Wolves last season, it is clear that the 22-year-old has earned every right to be the Timberwolves’ cornerstone superstar for the foreseeable future.
The question is: Will Edwards want to stay in Minnesota for the long haul?
NBA Rumors: Will Anthony Edwards Run Out of Patience With Timberwolves?
Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report recently listed a handful of stars under 25 years old that could potentially ask out of their current teams in the near future. Unfortunately for Timberwolves fans, Edwards was part of this list.
Buckley points out that the Timberwolves appear to have made a big mistake when they mortgaged their future last summer when they gave up a massive haul when they traded for Rudy Gobert. That experiment hasn’t worked out for them as they had hoped, and Gobert’s partnership with Karl-Anthony Towns hasn’t yielded the expected results.
This misstep has led not only to the Wolves lacking a sufficient amount of future assets but also, without enough young players that align with an Anthony Edwards-centered timeline.
