The Milwaukee Bucks 2024-2025 season should be interesting. On Thursday, the entire NBA schedule for the 2024-2025 season was released. Before it was fully released, it was announced that the Bucks would not be playing on Christmas Day this year and the opening game would be against the Philadelphia 76ers on October 23.
It is the first time in six years that the Milwaukee Bucks will not be playing on Christmas Day. Giannis Antetokounmpo was not thrilled that Milwaukee would not be playing on Christmas Day this season. The San Antonio Spurs and Victor Wenbanyama, who were one of the worst teams in the NBA last season, are on TV this year on December 25 over them. The Spurs will face the New York Knicks that day.
Milwaukee Bucks Will Face the Boston Celtics Three Times Before the Calendar Turns To 2025
The Bucks know they will need to beat the Boston Celtics to be considered one of the top teams in the league. For this year, all three games against Boston will happen before the calendar turns to 2025. Two of the three matchups will be in Boston, Massachusetts. The three games will be played on: Monday, October 28, 6:30 p.m. CT, Sunday, November 10, 2:30 p.m. CT, and Friday, December 6, 6:30 p.m. CT.
Eric Nehm of The Athletic said about the Milwaukee Bucks facing the Boston Celtics three times early on in the 2024-2025 season:
“The Celtics, along with the Miami Heat, have been the Bucks’ strongest and most regular competition over the last six seasons as Antetokounmpo developed into a perennial MVP candidate and the Bucks developed into a perennial contender. After struggling to put together a special postseason, the Celtics finally capitalized on their regular-season success and won an NBA championship in June.
With essentially their entire roster returning, the Celtics will start the season as the favorite to win the 2024-25 championship as well, so each of their three games against the Bucks will be seen as measuring stick games for Milwaukee.”
To go along with the Boston Celtics, they will also face the Philadelphia 76ers and the New York Knicks three times this season. Boston and New York were the top two seeds in the Eastern Conference a season ago. The team to watch for in the division this season is the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Cleveland has yet to reach their peak and some think that the Milwaukee Bucks have reached their peak. Eric Nehm also added about the Bucks’s schedule:
“The final road-heavy stretch to worry about will be the Bucks’ longest road trip of the season, a five-game western trip near the end of March. Starting March 18 in Los Angeles, the Bucks will play the L.A. Lakers, Golden State Warriors, Sacramento Kings, Phoenix Suns and Denver Nuggets across in 10 days. Before embarking on that trip, the Bucks have seven straight games against playoff teams from last season, which will make for a difficult March.”
That will be a brutal road trip for the Bucks toward the end of the season. Those teams will be fighting for playoff positioning in the Western Conference. Speaking of road trips, the Milwaukee Bucks will begin the 2024-2025 season by having the first six of nine contests on the road.
