NBA News: The 2023 NBA off-season has already been eye-opening. Bradley Beal was Chris Paul were at the center of the biggest move so far this off-season. Beal will be a Sun, and Paul (for now) will be a Wizard. It is expected that Chris Paul will move on to a “contender” as the Wizards are still listening to offers from teams. However, that trade could be overshadowed by a looming blockbuster trade.
Zion Williamson Expected To Be At The Center Of The Next Blockbuster Trade
According to a source of The Ringer’s Bill Simmons, a blockbuster Zion Williamson trade could go down very soon:
“The Zion thing is a real, real, real subplot. I had someone tell me yesterday that I trust that he will not be on that team Thursday. I was like ‘really, I haven’t heard that?’ And he said, ‘you watch,’” he said on the more recent episode of the Bill Simmons Podcast.
Regardless of the exact trade details, everyone around the NBA will have their eyes on these Williamson discussions. Not only could a trade immediately change the ceiling of teams like the Trail Blazers (if they want to give up the #3 overall pick) and Hornets, but it could also have a domino effect on the rest of the market. Many teams across the lottery are reportedly hoping to find a trade partner.
Would The Milwaukee Bucks Target Someone Like Zion Williamson?
At this point the only teams who seem to have a serious chance in obtaining Williamson would be the ones with lottery draft picks this year. The Milwaukee Bucks are strapped for draft picks for the foreseeable future. In fact, Milwaukee doesn’t own a first-round pick until the 2028 NBA Draft. They also have one in the 2029 NBA Draft. It would be difficult to put together a trade package worth the Pelicans’ time to acquire the young superstar. As of now, the Portland Trailblazers seem to lead the NBA rumors as the best potential fit.
