NBA news: There is probably no more hotly contested subject in the world of basketball than the GOAT debate between LeBron James and Michael Jordan. Everyone will have their own opinion on this compelling matter, and for the most part, fans and experts have varying and sometimes conflicting views.

Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry, who himself is considered a GOAT in his own right, has chimed in on the matter. LeBron fans and MJ loyalists probably won’t be too happy with his take, though.

Speaking in a recent interview with Willie Geist of Today, Curry shared his honest thoughts on the raging GOAT debate. Apparently, Steph would rather stay out of the argument altogether:

“I ascribe to the mindset that there are multiple GOATs,” Curry said (h/t Scott Polacek of Bleacher Report). “And I hate that, it’s not a cop-out answer, but it’s so hard to compare eras. And getting into that conversation of ‘oh if you put Michael in this era or if you put LeBron in that era,’ it’s kind of unfair. It’s a great barbershop debate, and it’s something that’ll never stop until the end of time.”

Curry hits the nail on the head here. He by no means ended the GOAT debate for good, but at least he raised an excellent point about the pitfalls of comparing eras. He’s basically saying that LeBron and MJ played in totally different NBAs and it just makes no sense trying to figure out who the better player truly is.

NBA News: Can Giannis Antetokounmpo be the GOAT of His Generation?

Given Curry’s premise here, one could argue that Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo could emerge as the GOAT of his generation. The former back-to-back league MVP has pretty much done it all in his career already, including bringing a championship to Milwaukee for the first time in 50 years back in 2021. And the best part about it is that he is far from done. Giannis is on a mission to win another chip with the Bucks this season, and if he succeeds in doing so then surely, his generational GOAT claim should only get stronger.
