NBA news: Chris Paul has been wreaking havoc on the league for many years now. This summer, he joined the Golden State Warriors in a sensational trade move that sent shockwaves throughout the league. He might be in a new uniform come 2023-24 but you can be sure that it’s going to be the same old Chris Paul who will be up to his usual antics again this coming season. After all, this is one of the biggest reasons why the Dubs decided to bring him to the Bay Area.

Former NBA veteran Jeff Teague has a lot of experience with Chris Paul. In a recent podcast appearance, the former Milwaukee Bucks guard relived one particular encounter with the point god that has stuck with him through the years. As it turns out, Teague may have some bad blood with the 12-time All-Star:

“I was playing for the Pacers, he was playing for the Clippers,” Teague said on a recent podcast appearance, via Farbon Esnaashari. “It was the first time he ever really talked sh*t to me, and the first time I ever really wanted to fight him. So before the game, you gotta do warmups and sh*t, and I see him. He like, ‘JT what’s up baby!’ All political and sh*t.

“He had some Wake Forest shoes, so I’m like, ‘them is decent right there. I might need a pair of them CPs right there’. Just trying to keep the conversation going.”

Little did Teague know that Chris Paul was going to use this against him in a major way. Then again, this is Chris Paul we’re talking about here so to some extent, Jeff Teague should have known.

“The game start, we start playing against each other and he doing a lot of flopping,” Teague said. “He was trying to give me two fouls, and I’m like ‘quit flopping n***a, play! You scared to guard?’ This n***a walked to the end of our bench, where Paul George was sitting, and was like, ‘P, this n***a right here talking sh*t like he ain’t just ask me for some shoes before the game!’

“You know what I was on. Rest of the game, you already know I was on Ricky Rubio timing. I wanted to run into this n***a so bad.”

It’s quite funny to hear about the story now, but you can be sure that Teague wasn’t laughing about this at all when it went down. The former All-Star point guard himself admitted that he nearly came to blows with CP3, which truthfully, was far from the first time Paul got on the nerve of his opponent.

Teague said that he was playing for the Indiana Pacers when this incident with Paul transpired. This was during the 2016-17 season, which happened to be Tague’s lone year in Indiana.

While his Pacers stint may have been short-lived, Jeff Teague’s time with the Bucks was even shorter. This came at the very end of his NBA career after the 6-foot-3 point guard was shipped off by the Boston Celtics mid-season to the Orlando Magic. The Magic had no need for Teague and they waived him shortly after the trade. He then ended up signing as a free agent with Milwaukee.

Jeff Teague played just 21 games for the Bucks during the second half of the 2020-21 campaign. He averaged 6.6 points, 1.5 rebounds, and 2.8 assists in 15.9 minutes per game. He did get himself a championship ring with the Bucks, though.
