More Baseball for the state of Wisconsin
The Milkmen are no longer the only independent team in the state. Joining them in the Association Association next season is the Lake Country DockHounds.
The team as of Tuesday broke ground on their new ballpark and released their new logo! Check it out:

Explanation
Matt Muller from OnMilwaukee.com gives a little more detail for the logo:
The logo features the team’s dog mascot Louie B. Sluggin – named after the iconic Louisville Slugger baseball bat – with a baseball in his mouth, holding his namesake while hanging out on a dock and wearing a boater hat complete with bobbers as well as his Lake Country jersey, donning the number five in honor of the five O’s in Oconomowoc.
The team’s name – created by Nick and Finn Levendoski of Horicon and based on the many pups that lounge around the area’s numerous boats and docks – was announced earlier this month, chosen from more than 2,700 fan submissions in the team’s name-generating contest.
When the name was first unveiled, it was met mostly with positive comments from new fans, but some wondered if they could buy into the name. As General Manager Trish Raspberry told the American Association Now program, “Lake Country is a very laid back community…They own summer with all the lakes in the area and the boats. The Dock Hound fits in.” After seeing the design and color scheme all come to life, it definitely seems like a fine fit for the community as well as a fun baseball logo.
Future Home
The name of the new ball park will be the Wisconsin Brewing Company Park and is located in the town of Oconomowoc forty minutes Northwest of Franklin Field (home of the Milkmen). The close proximity should hopefully bring about a fun and competitive rivalry. Similar to Franklin Field, it will be a full turf field. Also attached to the ballpark will be a multi-use sports facility which will be able to host several different sporting events outside of baseball.
General Manager
Trish Rasberry was named the general manager and is now one of two female general managers in the league. She is no stranger to the Association as she recently served as the vice president of sales and service for the Milkmen. Rasberry has been given the opportunity to build the DockHounds organization literally from the ground up.
A vision that has finally come together
This truly is an exciting time for Waukesha County to finally land a professional baseball team. The county has had past attempts to bring baseball to the area. Over the last couple of years they tried to fund a Northwoods team but saw their efforts fall short.
But instead, they join a growing league in the American Association which is an official partner league to major league baseball. Like the Milkmen have shown in their three seasons, it does not take long to acquire the kind of talent to be competitive.
Details are still coming together and much work is to be done. However, Information, ticket options, even merchandise are already available at Lakecountrybaseball.com.
You can never have too much baseball in one state, so a new professional team is a welcome sight to everyone in Wisconsin! Well…almost everyone.
