I love baseball...maybe a little too much. But not more than my God and my wife! I also enjoy a good cup of coffee, talking theology, and showing off my beard.
The Milwaukee Brewers have been playing some rough baseball Since the Brewers clinched a postseason spot on September 18th, Milwaukee has stumbled to a 4-10 record. The games have meant absolutely nothing to the Brew Crew, especially after they clinched the division, so the competitive motivation has not mattered in the same way it has to the Cardinals and Dodgers (nine of those ten losses came against them). Since clinching the division, the value manager Craig Counsell has placed on this stretch has been on the health of his players. Thus, starters have had tighter leashes, regular position players are…
Breathe the free air, Milwaukee: your Brewers have clinched the National League Central division! While the work is far from over, the Brewers can set themselves up well for the division series beginning October 8th. The question is: how should the crew prepare themselves in the last week of the regular season? Do the Brewers need to get revenge on the Cardinals or play spoiler for the Dodgers? Should the Brewers rest everyone where they can to avoid injuries? If I had my way, I would argue both of those options sound great. While that could happen, a 4-2 record…
Though their season met an untimely end, the Milkmen have plenty of individual accolades to take pride in. First, it was Myles Smith who took home “pitcher of the year” honors. Then, first year pitcher, Nate Hadley was announced as the “rookie of the year” after appearing in 35 games and sporting an ERA of 1.56 with 44 strikeouts and 13 saves. To complete the “best player trinity”, Adam Brett Walker joins his teammates as the player of the year! This is the second consecutive season Walker has been given this honor, receiving the nod over other worthy candidates such…
Anderson and the voices of Wisconsin Wisconsin sports fans have been treated well over the years to great on air-talent. The list includes Wayne Larrivee (Packers), Jim Paschke & Ted Davis (Bucks), Matt Lepay (Badgers), and of course Mr. Baseball Bob Uecker. We also cannot forget to mention quality side-line reporters like Sophia Minnaert (Brewers) & Zora Stephenson (Bucks). Included in that list is TV play-by-play announcer for your Milwaukee Brewers, Brian Anderson. Previously from the golf channel, Anderson had worked as a sideline reporter for the San Antonio Spurs. The Brewers hired him in 2007 to work alongside Bill…
There will be a new American Association champion The Milkmen fall short in their repeat bid after losing 5-0 to the RedHawks in a one game wild card playoff. Fargo-Moorhead had been playing inspired baseball over the past month to put themselves into postseason position. In this game, they played a great game all around from the offense, defense, and their left handed pitcher Matt Tomshaw was dominate. What once was a promising season for the local cream city nine ends in sudden fashion. Milkmen vs RedHawks recap Things began on a promising note for Milwaukee. After two outs in…
The American Association Awards With the regular season ending on labor day and tonight the beginning of the postseason: yesterday was the start of the off-season award announcements. The AA released the leagues best players for each position. On this “all-star” list are two of your Milwaukee Milkmen, Adam Brett Walker & Myles Smith. https://twitter.com/AA_Baseball/status/1435343806233186306 Walker & Smith have been staples of the Milkmen since the clubs first season in 2019. Now the teammates of three years join in on some well deserved recognition. But there was more hardware to be distributed. Myles Smith In addition to earning the all-star…
The Milwaukee Milkmen are going back to postseason! For the second consecutive season, the other local cream city nine will be competing for the American Association championship. Though the journey to get to the playoffs was rather bumpy these last few weeks, the Milkmen have still placed themselves in position to accomplish their goal of repeating as champions. https://twitter.com/AA_Baseball/status/1433062050998140935 Postseason road to the title The Milkmen (58-41) finished third in the North Division standings meaning they will need to go to North Dakota to take on the number two seeded RedHawks (60-38) for a one game play-in. The Milkmen own…
One week ago… Adam Brett Walker & the Milwaukee Milkmen were in dire need of a victory. A rough August had pushed them into third place with the threat of dropping into fourth. With a pivotal four game series with the Goldeyes, Milwaukee would need to hold strong or see themselves on the outside looking in to playoff contention. The series did not start out well. The Milkmen dropped games 1 & 2 in a day night doubleheader. They would either have to turn things around in game 3 or see a promising season deteriorate into huge disappointment. A season-saving…
Baseball, just like life, can hit you fast. A week ago, the Milwaukee Milkmen were tied for 1st in the North Division. After a week which saw them go 1-5 against playoff contenders like the Cleburne Railroaders and the Kansas City Monarchs, the quest for a repeat championship has become complicated. https://twitter.com/AA_Baseball/status/1429803941236256779 The Milkmen now sit three games behind the Chicago Dogs and a half game back for Fargo-Moorhead for home field in the play-in game. Though the Milkmen have been struggling, it has not helped that both the Dogs and RedHawks are both in the midst of a winning…
“Watch out, American Association. These Hounds are gonna be well trained.”-DockHounds social media team A fitting line as the DockHounds announced an experienced coaching staff to run the ballclub for their inaugural season. The Skipper 2019 AA manager of the year Jim Bennett will take the helm for Lake Country ballclub. Bennett’s career spans 30 years in different coaching opportunities including pitching/bench coach for the Brisbane Bandits (Australian baseball team). In his lone season with the Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks, he led the team to a 63-37 record and would reach the postseason. Following the campaign, an agreement was not able to…
