MLB Rumors: Chicago White Sox players have been on the trading block since early on in the season. A fire sale is expected and with a few weeks to go before the trade deadline the chances of a deal involving a former batting title champion are drastically increasing.
Chicago White Sox: Tim Anderson trade looking more and more likely (MLB Rumors).
2023 has been a strange year for the former 2019 batting title champion Tim Anderson. He is typically a shortstop, but has been playing second base. Despite a down offensive season (.235 batting average, 53 OPS+) his ability to play a sound second base has increased his trade value. Not to mention post All-Star break he has been on fire at the plate.
At MLB Network Jon Morosi has reported that the odds of him being traded are increasing. He has a $14 million club option for the 2024 season, which essentially means he could be a rental player for any acquiring team. This would keep the cost to acquire him down.
The chances of a Tim Anderson trade are increasing, especially if he plays 2B, as in the WBC.
Anderson has slashed .375/.444/.417 since the break.
That’s a small sample size, but teams have been wanting to see evidence that his approach is back.@MLBNetwork @670TheScore

Anderson is 30 years old and historically has been great offensively. It strange that this year has gone so poorly for him, but a change of scenery and a strong finish to the season could still ink him a big contract this upcoming off-season.
