Milwaukee Brewers ace Corbin Burnes has had a strange season so far. He started the year off slow, struggled to put batters away via the strikeout, and his walk rate was up. Leading into Monday night’s game against the Arizona Diamondbacks he had been pitching better as he had a 2.33 ERA over his previous four starts with his lowest single game strikeout total during that stretch being seven.
With all of this going on and constant Corbin Burnes trade rumors swirling, last week Ken Rosenthal made a comment that his maximal trade value may be compromised. He stated his inconsistent start to the season and overall downward trending trajectory since his 2021 Cy Young season as the primary reasons for this.
Unfortunately on Monday night against the Arizona Diamondbacks Corbin Burnes did not have a good outing. He gave up six earned runs in the first innings and seven overall. Seven earned runs matched a career high for him.
Here is how Milwaukee Brewers fans reacted to Corbin Burnes seven earned run night against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Maybe Mark was onto something by not paying him 🤔

I believe Burnes is intentionally forcing the Brewers hand to trade him as soon as possible. He has verbally expressed his disappointment with the off season negotiations, and now has literally taken matters into his own hand(s). Whether a combination of lack of concentration or intentional errors, he wants out NOW.
