Milwaukee Bucks: Win Over Nikola Jokic, Nuggets Completes 1 Exciting Trend Under Doc Rivers

One of the oft-mentioned reasons cited by many about why the Milwaukee Bucks let go of Adrian Griffin was the inconsistency of the team’s defense. Well, it’s starting to look like the team’s defense is realizing its full potential under Griffin’s replacement, Doc Rivers. Take for example the fact that the Bucks have not allowed more than 95 points in each of their last two games following a 112-95 thumping of the reigning NBA champions Denver Nuggets Monday night at home.

The Milwaukee Bucks’ Defense Has Been Suffocating Of Late

Over the last two games, the Milwaukee Bucks have given up just a total of 179 points — the second-fewest in the entire league over the same span. Only the New Orleans Pelicans (171) have fewer. In that same span, the Bucks have limited their opponents to a horrendous 36.4 percent shooting from the field and a brutal 26.1 percent success rate on shots taken from behind the arc.

To get a clearer picture of the improvement, consider that the Bucks are just 23rd in the league so far this season with 118.9 points allowed per game and 18th in terms of adjusted defensive rating with 116.3 points surrendered per 100 possessions.

The Bucks have the tools to succeed on defense. They have the length, versatility, and mentality, especially after they acquired Patrick Beverley ahead of the trade deadline.

The Milwaukee Bucks’ defense will be put to the test once again this Tuesday night when Giannis Antetokounmpo and company take on the Miami Heat at home.
