The Milwaukee Bucks are the only NBA team that is based in the incredible state of Wisconsin. However, there have been more than a few players who hail from this state, including a handful who have currently earned star status in today’s NBA.
Milwaukee Bucks Rival Guard Reigns Supreme
Andy Bailey of Bleacher Report went through the tedious process of identifying the best NBA players from each of the 50 states in the U.S. As mentioned previously, there are currently more than a handful of current players that hail from Wisconsin, but one player, in particular, got top honors.
According to Bailey, Haliburton is currently the top NBA player who was born in Wisconsin. It’s hard to argue against this notion considering how the Oshkosh, Wisconsin native is considered one of the top point guards in the NBA today.
Haliburton made his All-Star debut last season for the Indiana Pacers, putting up career-best numbers of 20.7 points on 49.0 percent shooting, 3.7 rebounds, 10.7 assists, and 1.6 steals per game, while also knocking down 2.9 triples per contest on a highly-efficient 40.0-percent clip.
Earlier this summer, Haliburton put pen to paper on a massive five-year max contract extension with the Pacers. His new deal came out to a whopping $260 million. Given what this young man has already achieved throughout his fledgling NBA career (he’s entering Year 4 in 2023-24) as well as the new heights the 23-year-old can still reach in the near future, you can’t really say that he isn’t worth all that dough.
Wisconsin Represent
Apart from Haliburton, there are a couple of other stars that were born in Wisconsin. Miami Heat guard Tyler Herro is himself a Milwaukee native who actually supported the Bucks as a kid. Jordan Poole, who is on the brink of a massive year with the Washington Wizards following his offseason move from the Golden State Warriors, also hails from Milwaukee.
Kevon Looney, Sam Hauser, Jalen Johnson, and Ochai Agbaji are a few other names that also come from Wisconsin.
