As far as generational talents go, the Milwaukee Bucks have an absolute gem in Giannis Antetokounmpo. You could also argue that the same is the case for the New Orleans Pelicans when it comes to Zion Williamson.
While the Zion hype train may have died down a bit over the past couple of years — mostly because of injuries to the former No. 1 overall pick — there’s no denying that Williamson still remains one of the most promising young superstars in the NBA today.
This being the case, would the Bucks be open to potentially swapping Antetokounmpo for a younger star who could stand in as the face of their franchise for many years to come?
Milwaukee Bucks: Giannis Antetokounmpo-Zion Williamson Trade Proposal
To be clear, the Bucks aren’t shopping Giannis around. At this point, the only way the two-time NBA MVP will leave Milwaukee is if he demands a trade. Should this unexpected turn of events actually become a reality, Eddie Bitar of Fadeaway World has proposed a bonkers trade idea that will see the Bucks land Zion.
Below are the details of the deal:
Bucks get: Zion Williamson, Herb Jones, 2025 First-Round Pick
Pelicans get: Giannis Antetokounmpo
There is pretty much no scenario wherein the Bucks emerge as the winners in a potential Giannis trade. This is just how great Antetokounmpo is, and there’s no denying that losing him would be a massive blow for Milwaukee.
However, in such a hypothetical scenario, the Pelicans actually have a pretty formidable trade package that could benefit the Bucks significantly.
“The Milwaukee Bucks would benefit from this deal by acquiring the explosive potential of Zion Williamson, along with the defensive prowess of Jones and future draft assets. While parting ways with Williamson represents a significant decision for the Pelicans, the opportunity to add a transcendent talent like Giannis could reshape the trajectory of their franchise, igniting hopes of championship contention,” Bitar wrote.
Zion is obviously the main catch for the Bucks here, but you also have to note that Herb Jones was just named as part of the NBA All-Defensive first team on Tuesday night. The 2025 first-round pick just sweetens the deal even more.
As for the Pelicans, there’s not much to explain here. No team in their right mind should pass up on the opportunity to acquire the services of Antetokounmpo — even if it requires having to give up your cornerstone superstar.
