Milwaukee Bucks fans remember Jrue Holiday well. However, if there’s one specific play that stands out during the two-time All-Star’s memorable stint with the Bucks, it has to be his clutch steal and alley-oop pass to Giannis Antetokounmpo in the dying seconds of Game 5 of the 2021 NBA Finals against the Phoenix Suns.
Thanks to Holiday’s clutch heroics, the Bucks were able to steal Game 5 on Phoenix’s home floor, en route to clinching Milwaukee’s first NBA championship in 50 years in Game 6.
Milwaukee Bucks News: Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Fondest Memory of Jreu Holiday

While that play will live in the heart and mind of Giannis forever, that series-defining moment isn’t actually Antetokounmpo’s fondest memory of his former teammate. According to the two-time NBA MVP, the Jrue moment he looks back on with so much endearment was when he had a heart-to-heart talk with Holiday and his wife, Lauren, one night in Abu Dhabi.
Giannis recently looked back at how that conversation inside the team bus while watching the desert sunrise made such a mark both on his career and his life:
“We were just talking about life,” Antetokounmpo told Jared Weiss of The Athletic. “He was really open in how they were dealing with some things and how they can help us not deal with that stuff. They had such good advice for me and my career and my life moving forward.”

Antetokounmpo did not go into detail as to what exactly they talked about as well as the sage advice he got from the Holidays. However, what is clear is that it lives in his memory so distinctly.
For Giannis, Jrue is not just a teammate he played with for multiple years. These two are brothers in every sense of the word.
