The Milwaukee Bucks may have the chance to potentially swing a trade for Buddy Hield, a shooting guard from the Indiana Pacers. Hield is already seeking a trade to another team and he is in the final year of his contract. The Bucks could be an even more dangerous basketball team if they landed him via trade, but would Indiana trade him within the division?
Well on NBA Analysis Network, Robert Marvi wrote an article that “Pacers Must Consider These 3 Buddy Hield Trade Proposals.” One of the teams that was mentioned was the Milwaukee Bucks. Milwaukee would just acquire Hield in that trade from the Indiana Pacers. As for the Pacers, they would acquire Grayson Allen, Pat Connaughton, and a future first round pick.
Hield being the starting shooting guard over Grayson Allen is a massive upgrade and they can use some more shooting on the outside. The starting five in this instance for Milwaukee would be Jrue Holiday, Buddy Hield, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton, and Brook Lopez.
A season ago, Buddy Hield played in 80 games last season with the Indiana Pacers and averaged 16.8 PPG, 5.0 RPG, and 2.8 APG, along with shooting 45.8% from the field a season ago. The offense would be better and this could get them over the hump in the Eastern Conference again with this move.
Grayson Allen is an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season and Pat Connaughton isn’t bad, but it wouldn’t be a bad thing to move him either to upgrade the roster. Also in that same article, Marvi mentioned possible mock trades to the New York Knicks and the Oklahoma City Thunder.
According to other reports, some of the other teams that are interested in trade for him are the Philadelphia 76ers and the Dallas Mavericks. It will be interesting to see who gives the Indiana Pacers the best offer in this situation.
Milwaukee Bucks Acquiring Buddy Hield From the Indiana Pacers Would Be a Big Move
General manager Jon Horst has generally been quiet this offseason by re-signing his own players and nothing else. Making a move within the division and snatching a good player from your rival would be a good thing. The Milwaukee Bucks are in win-now mode and the Indiana Pacers are not.
Milwaukee is trying to knock out teams like the Boston Celtics and the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference. Teams like the New York Knicks and the Cleveland Cavaliers are on the come up and the Philadelphia 76ers will be good as well. The Bucks landing Hield in a trade would improve this team’s chance of winning another NBA title and also maybe knocking off the defending champions, the Denver Nuggets.
