The Green Bay Packers own the 25th pick in the 2024 NFL Draft and the NFL Draft is less than three weeks away. Green Bay has been linked to safeties, cornerbacks, and offensive linemen mainly throughout different mock drafts for at least the first round.
The Packers at some point will need to draft a running back in the 2024 NFL Draft. Other than those four positions, the Green Bay Packers don’t need much of anything else in this draft. However, James Fragoza during a seven-round mock draft for Pro Football Network, had the Packers selecting Florida State Seminoles wide receiver Keon Coleman with the 25th pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
“The Packers have one of the best offenses in the league, but they’re missing an alpha WR who can win on third down and in the red zone. Coleman can do just that, coming down with highlight-reel contested catches with regularity.”
Coleman is 6’4″ and weighs 215 lbs. He is projected to go in the last first round or early in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft. A season ago with the Florida State Seminoles, he caught 50 passes for 658 yards receiving and 11 touchdowns, along with averaging 13.2 yards per catch.
If the Green Bay Packers Made This Selection, Christian Watson Would Most Likely Get Traded
Green Bay does not really need help at the wide receiver position. Christian Watson, Jayden Reed, Dontayvion Wicks, and Romeo Doubs are a very good receiving core already. There would be no issue drafting a receiver in the later rounds for depth purposes, but they need a safety, a cornerback, or a starting offensive lineman in the first round rather than drafting a player like Keon Coleman.
If Coleman was the selection for the Green Bay Packers at 25, Christian Watson could very well be traded to a team like the Buffalo Bills or the Carolina Panthers. Both of those teams need a wide receiver. The Packers are trying to do everything to help him be successful in his third season after a rough season second.
Keon Coleman being drafted by the Buffalo Bills at 28 would make way more sense rather than being drafted by the Green Bay Packers. There will be a lot of wide receivers taken in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. It is a very deep class this year. It would honestly be a head-scratching pick for the franchise and they usually never take a wide receiver in the first round.
There have been many times when the Green Bay Packers could have taken one in the first round and decided to wait until the second round to make these choices. They need to stick with defense for this selection.
