The Milwaukee Bucks had a three-game losing streak entering the New York Knicks matchup on Sunday night at home. Milwaukee had an 11-point halftime lead against New York but that evaporated. The Knicks won the game over the Bucks by a final score of 122-109.
With the four-game losing streak for Milwaukee, the number two seed potentially feels in danger all of a sudden. They are playing their worst basketball at the wrong time. Milwaukee is just 3-7 in their last 10 games played. The Bucks have a 47-31 record this season. The Orlando Magic and the New York Knicks both have a 46-32 record and are just one game back of Milwaukee in the NBA Standings.
Orlando will play Milwaukee twice in the coming week and they own the tie-breaker over the Knicks because Milwaukee won the season series over them. Four players scored in double figures for the Bucks in this matchup. Giannis Antetokounmpo led the way for the Bucks with 28 points, 15 rebounds, eight assists, two blocks, and one steal.
Damian Lillard had another good game for the Bucks with 23 points, four rebounds, six assists, two blocks, and one steal. Khris Middleton left the game for Milwaukee with mouth trauma and he did not return. Middleton can not catch a break with injuries for this basketball team.
Bobby Portis Jr. continues to dominate off the bench for the Milwaukee Bucks. He scored 24 points, grabbed five rebounds, and recorded two assists. Brook Lopez also added 13 points for Milwaukee.
The Milwaukee Bucks Defense Had No Answer for New York Knicks Point Guard Jalen Brunson
Milwaukee has seen the Knicks often this season and the defense has had no answer in how to guard Jalen Brunson. One of the reasons why New York was able to rally in this matchup is that Brunson exploded for 43 points, grabbed six rebounds, and recorded eight assists.
His college teammate. Donte DiVincenzo scored 26 points for the New York Knicks as he was able to catch fire in the second half against the Bucks. New York appears to be an NBA title contender under head coach Tom Thibodeau.
The Bucks are just 15-17 under Doc Rivers as head coach and were 30-13 under Adrian Griffin Jr. Maybe Milwaukee should not have gotten rid of him in the first place. The Knicks will continue there road trip as they will face the Chicago Bulls on Tuesday night. Things are not going to get easier for the Bucks as they are in a must-win situation against the Boston Celtics on Tuesday night.
