Milwaukee Bucks rumors: The Houston Rockets have been one of the most active teams in the offseason. After being in a rebuilding phase over the past few years, the Rockets decided to stock up with talent this summer with the objective of competing for a playoff spot in a ruthless Western Conference.
They brought in Fred VanVleet and Dillon Brooks in big-money deals in NBA free agency, and on Tuesday, the Rockets made even more moves to solidify their roster ahead of 2023-24.
Houston Rockets Trade Kevin Porter Jr.
According to multiple reports, the Rockets struck a deal with the Oklahoma City Thunder to send controversial guard Kevin Porter Jr. to OKC. The Thunder have acquired the former USC standout along with a pair of second-round picks in exchange for Victor Oladipo and Jeremiah Robinson-Earl.
Porter has had a colorful career in the NBA thus far, which includes an ongoing court case wherein he has been charged with assault and strangulation. This talented young man struggled to keep out of trouble off the court, so hopefully, the fresh start in Oklahoma will work wonders for him.
Former Milwaukee Bucks Guard Linked to Rockets
As it turns out, however, the Rockets are not yet done. This team is serious about being a legitimate threat in the West this coming season, and they’re making the necessary moves toward this objective.
According to NBA insider Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports, former Bucks guard Malcolm Brogdon has emerged as a trade target for Houston:
“Sources said Houston has also eyed veteran guard Malcolm Brogdon, who was traded recently to Portland in the Celtics’ acquisition of All-Star Jrue Holiday, although the Trail Blazers and Rockets have not held significant conversations. The Blazers have so far indicated they plan to keep Brogdon as part of their rebuild, and Brogdon recently refuted any notion he was looking for an exit from the franchise,” Fischer wrote.
Fisher also notes, however, that the Rockets have also shown interest in Talen Horton-Tucker of the Utah Jazz, as well as veteran swingman Alec Burks, who is currently with the Detroit Pistons.
