The Milwaukee Bucks were without point guard Damian Lillard on Tuesday night against the Washington Wizards because of a groin strain. Milwaukee lost without Lillard on the road against Washington by a final score of 117-113.
Milwaukee dropped to 47-28 this season and Washington improved to 15-61 on the season. One of the most concerning things this season for the Bucks is the record with and without Damian Lillard. Milwaukee’s record with Lillard is 46-22 and their record without him is 1-6.
That is something to not overlook by any means moving forward. It goes to show that no matter how great Giannis Antetokounmpo is, he needs his second superstar by him. This is why they traded for Lillard in the offseason to try and win another NBA Championship.
The lack of a backup point guard has hurt this basketball team this season. On Wednesday night, Patrick Beverley started in his place, but he suffered an injury in the third quarter against the Washington Wizards and Beverley did not return to the game,
This is where the Bucks have one flaw on their roster. They should have done a better job in the offseason improving the backup position when Damian Lillard is out of the lineup for these reasons. Not having Jrue Holiday this season has hurt them on the defensive end of the floor.
Milwaukee Bucks Damian Lillard Averages Up To This Point
Lillard this season for the Bucks is averaging 24.4 PPG, 4.4 RPG, and 7.1 APG. What has helped the Bucks be successful is that his points per game are ranked 16th in the NBA this season. What can’t be overlooked is that his assists per game are ranked 10th in the NBA this season.
His playing-making ability is very valuable to his game along with his scoring and that is what has made the Bucks so successful this season with him on the floor. In the last four of five games played for Milwaukee, he has scored 20 or more points and also has recorded five or more assists in all of those contests.
The next time the Bucks will play is on Wednesday night against the Memphis Grizzlies. Will see if Lillard can play for the Milwaukee Bucks in this one as he is listed as a game-time decision. If he is out again and they can’t win again, well it is going to be a major problem for them moving forward.
