It appears that there’s going to be a shortage of star power in Wednesday’s matchup between the Milwaukee Bucks and the Toronto Raptors.
The Bucks have already ruled Giannis Antetokounmpo out due to injury, and it now appears that the Raptors will also be without two of their starters as they host Damian Lillard and Co. at the Scotiabank Arena.
Toronto Raptors Dealing With Slew of Injuries
We reported on Tuesday that OG Anunoby is doubtful to suit up against the Bucks due to a right finger laceration. The 6-foot-7 wing had the privilege of being Antetokounmpo’s primary defender during their matchup earlier this season, and the fact that Giannis is now unavailable to play could also influence Toronto’s decision on Anunoby’s status.
A new addition to the injury report is starting point guard Dennis Schroder, who is now questionable to play due to a sore right knee. Schroder has been quite a revelation for the Raptors since arriving as an offseason recruit, and losing him would be a significant blow for the team.
Gary Trent Jr. is also doubtful to play because of a foot injury, while Christian Koloko has been ruled out due to a respiratory illness.
Milwaukee Bucks Shorthanded as Well
As mentioned previously, Giannis will be missing his first game of the season on Wednesday. The former two-time MVP is dealing with a right calf strain, which could also put his status in jeopardy for Milwaukee’s upcoming back-to-back set on Friday against the Charlotte Hornets, and on Saturday against Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks.
Jae Crowder will also miss his second straight game after the veteran was diagnosed with a significant groin injury that will require surgery. Crowder is expected to be out for at least eight weeks.
