The Milwaukee Bucks have already released their injury report for Tuesday’s do-or-die quarterfinal matchup against the New York Knicks. It’s going to be a must-win game for the Bucks if they want to keep their hopes alive of bagging the first-ever NBA In-Season Tournament championship.
Unfortunately for Milwaukee, they will need to try and take down the Knicks without the services of veteran swingman Pat Connaughton.
Milwaukee Bucks Coach Provides Pat Connaughton Injury Update
Connaughton first went down with an injury on November 28 in Milwaukee’s 131-124 win over the Miami Heat. The 30-year-old was forced to exit the game with an ankle sprain and was unable to return. He has since missed two straight games, with Tuesday’s bout being his third.
Speaking to reporters on Monday, Bucks head coach Adrian Griffin provided a bit of an ominous update on Connaughton’s status moving forward:
“I don’t foresee him being available this week,” Griffin said, via Eric Nehm of The Athletic.
The fact that Griffin has now unofficially ruled Connaughton out for the upcoming week means that the veteran likely won’t be available throughout the In-Season Tournament.
If the Bucks win on Tuesday against the Knicks, they face off against either the Boston Celtics or the Indiana Pacers on Thursday. Another win will have Milwaukee play in the Finals on Saturday. At this point, it doesn’t sound like Connaughton will be able to help his team throughout the entire knockout stage of the tournament.
