It’s official. The Milwaukee Bucks have dropped to the No. 3 seed in the East after their gutting 113-88 defeat at the hands of the Orlando Magic on the final day of the regular season. The New York Knicks secured a win as well, taking down the Chicago Bulls in overtime, 120-119, thereby clinching the second seed in the conference.
The Bucks have now set a date with the Indiana Pacers in the opening round of the upcoming Playoffs, which is the same team that has already beaten them four times this season.
Milwaukee Bucks News: Doc Rivers Sounds Off on Pacers Matchup
Bucks head coach Doc Rivers spoke to the press after their blowout loss to Orlando and naturally, he was faced with all sorts of questions about their first-round matchup against Indiana. The veteran shot-caller got brutally honest about this upcoming clash:
“Indiana has had our number all year, so perfect opponent,” Rivers said, via Eric Nehm of The Athletic. “Listen, we gotta play somebody and they’re tough. They’ve played great against us. They probably have great confidence against us. We’ll have great focus because we’re going to have to.”
As Rivers said, whoever you’re going to get to face in the playoffs is going to be “tough” anyway so it’s not as if the Bucks are dreading this upcoming matchup. This is despite the fact that they’ve only won once against Indiana this season in five tries.
To say that the Pacers have had MIlwaukee’s number this season would be an understatement. Then again, you can throw all that away come playoff time.
