Damian Lillard missed the Milwaukee Bucks’ Friday showdown against the Oklahoma City Thunder due to left adductor soreness. With him ruled out as Giannis Antetokounmpo has remained sidelined as well, the Cream City franchise didn’t stand a chance against Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Co.

Now, as the Bucks prepare for the final game of the regular season, Lillard’s injury status is a major talking point.

In the latest injury report released by the Bucks, Lillard has been listed as probable as he continues to deal with the same issue. Thanasis Antetokounmpo  (left hamstring soreness) and MarJon Beauchamp (left ankle sprain) have been labeled as probable as well, while Giannis, Jaylin Galloway and AJ Green have all been ruled out, per Eric Nehm of The Athletic.

Sure enough, Lillard’s probable status is great news for the Bucks, as they really need their superstar if they are to beat the Magic in their Sunday showdown.

Khris Middleton is not on the injury report after playing against the Thunder and is expected to be available for the contest.

The Bucks are 2-1 on the season in their series against the Magic, but in both of their wins, they have either one of Giannis or Lillard. Orlando will enter the game with plenty of motivation as well, as they are fighting for a playoff spot and could find themselves in the Play-In picture instead with a loss.

Milwaukee Bucks Need Damian Lillard Amid Battle for No. 2 Seed

The Milwaukee Bucks have a reason to win as well. They are already secured of a postseason spot, but their seeding is not yet locked.

Milwaukee is currently the no. 2 seed, but the team is tied with the New York Knicks at 49-32 and just one game ahead of the Cleveland Cavaliers. A loss for the Bucks and win by the Knicks would allow the ‘Bockers to get the second seed.

Should the Bucks lose and the Cavs win as well, Milwaukee will drop to the fourth seed because Cleveland owns the tiebreaker by virtue of having a better record in the division.

With that said, Damian Lillard’s probable playing status is good news for the Bucks. While it will still be difficult to beat an equally motivated Magic without their best player in Giannis Antetokounmpo, at least Dame’s potential presence gives them a fighting chance.
