Caitlin Clark is currently having a rough rookie campaign in his first year as a WNBA star. For his part, though, Milwaukee Bucks starting point guard Damian Lillard agrees that the level of competition she’s facing is just normal.
Clark slowly rose through the ranks in women’s college basketball when she established herself as one of its most talented stars. Just a few months ago, the former Iowa Hawkeyes guard broke Pete Maravich’s old record to become the NCAA’s all-time leading scorer. Unfortunately, she didn’t get the job done when the South Carolina Gamecocks defeated them in the championship round.

Shortly after ending her four-year run in Iowa, Clark was selected first by the Indiana Fever in the 2024 WNBA Draft. Since then, she has signed several lucrative endorsement deals and helped kickstart the provision of chartered flights for every player in the league.
However, things aren’t doing so well with the Fever’s top rookie this season. In the span of seven games, Indiana has only won one game against the Los Angeles Sparks. This kickstarted various individuals criticizing the WNBA star for failing to make an impact for her team in the pro level.
Milwaukee Bucks Star Damian Lillard Sides With ESPN Reporter’s Caitlin Clark Rant

Just recently, Clark has been on the receiving end of so much hate from players in the league. At the same time, personalities like NBA legend Charles Barkley, veteran guard Patrick Beverley and Los Angeles Lakers’ LeBron James have defended her. For Milwaukee Bucks guard Damian Lillard, though, he sides with ESPN reporter Elle Duncan’s take on the matter.
Yall gotta stop man. THEY ARE COMPETITORS. WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM THEM? This Caitlin Clark rhetoric is tired AF. pic.twitter.com/r2AqCwUWwV

Lillard’s take can be seen as one that isn’t siding with Clark or her supposed haters. In a way, it’s about how the game is played and all the tough competition the Indiana star is facing can be viewed as normal.

It remains to be seen how Clark will rise up to the occasion and get her team some wins. In any case, everyone will be seeing how she progresses on the court over the following months, including Lillard.
