It was a total team effort for the Milwaukee Bucks on Friday as they took down the New York Knicks in their first in-season tournament game, 110-105. The players knew that they had to bounce back following their disastrous loss to the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday, and there’s no denying that they answered the call.
MarJon Bauchamp came up big for Milwaukee off the bench, with the second-year forward once again proving that he is more than capable of impacting the game when called upon.
MarJon Beauchamp Plays Key Role in Milwaukee Bucks’ Win
Beauchamp played just 13 minutes in Friday’s win, which is currently his season-low in his first four appearances for Milwaukee. However, it’s hard to deny that this was his best game too, with the 23-year-old finishing with 13 points on 5-of-7 from the field, three triples, two rebounds, two assists, and zero turnovers.
Perhaps the biggest highlight of his evening was when Beauchamp knocked down back-to-back treys in the second quarter to help the Bucks mount a 12-2 run over their opponents.
After the game, a delighted Beauchamp sounded off on his strong play:
“I was just happy my teammates trusted me,” Beauchamp said, via the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s Jim Owczarski. “I’ve been working extra work, just trying to build my confidence because I know I’m a good shooter. Just gotta put in the work, you just gotta believe, stick to my mechanics and let it fly.”
Veteran Jae Crowder, who happens to be one of the wing players Beauchamp will need to contend with in terms of minutes, had nothing but praise for his young teammate. Crowder echoed Beuachamp’s statement about putting the work in as the former approved of Beauchamp’s work ethic:
“His confidence is where it needs to be,” Crowder said. “He’s put in the work. You can only get confidence in the work you put into it, so he’s putting in the work when the lights are not on. I’ve come in the gym a few times at night, he’s in there. I just think it’s paying off.”
