There are very few positives to take away for the Milwaukee Bucks after they got destroyed by the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday night. After all, it’s hard to smile after being utterly dominated by an Eastern Conference foe the way the Bucks were in Toronto.
Giannis Antetokounmpo Highlights Silver Lining for Milwaukee Bucks
Be that as it may, Bucks talisman Giannis Antetokounmpo believes that it’s not all bad. There’s no denying that Milwaukee will want to move on from this embarrassing defeat as soon as they possibly can, but at the same time, the former back-to-back MVP notes that this is just one of those lessons that the team has to go through:
“It’s good,” Giannis said. “It’s not going to be easy. Obviously, (we) played through the wall. We gotta get better defensively and offensively. (We gotta) know what we’re trying to accomplish from every possession that we have.
“But at the end of the day, we need days like this to kind of realize (that) we have to get better. We are not there yet. We gotta keep coming together as a team. We gotta keep working on us.”
The Bitter Truth
Giannis isn’t sugar-coating anything, though. While he has chosen to remain positive amid his team’s early-season struggles, Antetokounmpo definitely isn’t overlooking the fact that the Bucks just aren’t a very good team right now:
“Everything sounds nice but at the end of the day, we gotta play the game,” he continued. “And right now, in the first four games, we’re average. We’re not exactly where we want to be. We gotta keep on getting better. And I hope we get better. So we’ll see. We have a lot of games ahead of us.”
The Bucks are supposed to be one of the teams to beat in the East — especially after they traded for Damian Lillard this summer. As Giannis said, however, Milwaukee isn’t looking the part at the moment.
