There is currently a lot of uncertainty surrounding Milwaukee Bucks star Khris Middleton’s injury. While there have been reports pertaining to an imminent return to action after missing the team’s last 12 games, the Bucks have not been able to provide a definitive target date for the three-time All-Star.
Middleton has now spoken out about his current status as he attempts to provide some clarity on what has been another extended injury spell.
Milwaukee Bucks Star Khris Middleton Expects to Return Soon
According to Middleton, there haven’t been any setbacks on his road to recovery. The 32-year-old hinted that he could be back as soon as Milwaukee’s next game (Friday against the Los Angeles Lakers), but he also stated that it’s possible that he misses another couple of weeks:
“Yeah, every day has been an improvement,” he said, via Eric Nehm of The Athletic. “I haven’t had setbacks, just taken a little bit — maybe a day or two longer, a week or two longer or whatever, but it’s the position I’m in right now.”
That’s not exactly an optimistic update. Nevertheless, I guess the silver lining here is that Middleton is getting there — we just don’t know how far along he really is.
Middleton was then asked if there was a chance he would be able to return during the Bucks’ current four-game road stand. The three-time All-Star did not rule out that possibility:
“Yeah, possibly, I think I’ve been close for about a week,” Middleton said. “Just haven’t been able to get to that final step to get out there and play, but I’ve been working hard and been able to get on the court the last couple of weeks. Just haven’t been able to go 100 percent.”
Khris Middleton Will Be on Minutes Limit Once He Returns
Bucks head coach Doc Rivers noted on Wednesday that if and when Middleton is able to return, he will “most likely” be on some sort of minutes limit. Middleton echoed his coach’s thoughts on this subject:
“Yeah, I think that’s it,” Middleton said. “I mean, I’ve been doing everything I can to keep my body healthy and somewhat in game shape, but there’s nothing that can replicate playing in a basketball game. So the conditioning that I’ve been doing has just been trying to cut some of that process out, so we’ll see.”
At this point, it sounds like Bucks fans will still need to wait quite a bit before Middleton is able to play a full game of basketball.
