With training camp now in full swing for the Milwaukee Bucks, there is still one key player missing from the squad. Khris Middleton has been able to participate in some parts of practice but unfortunately, the three-time All-Star has yet to progress to 5-on-5 work as he continues to recover from surgery on his right knee.
Milwaukee Bucks Star Khris Middleton Speaks Out on Road to Recovery
On Thursday, Middleton himself provided an update on his injury status. The 32-year-old revealed that he has been making steady progress, but at the same time, the pace of his recovery has been slow:
“I think I’m very close,” he said, via Jim Owczarski of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
“I mean, everything that they mapped out after my procedure and being able to get in the weight room and court, I’ve been right on pace. It’s been slow, but that’s kind of the way they planned it out. But I think everything’s been going great so far, no setbacks. Like I said, I’ve been feeling really good so I’m excited about the next couple days to a week to really start to get after it and hopefully everything goes well.”
As Middleton indicated, there appears to be no cause for concern here. Everything seems to be going according to plan, with the ultimate objective of him being ready for Milwaukee’s season opener against the Philadelphia 76ers.
Khris Middleton Trusting the Process
Middleton has been around for a long enough time to realize that when it comes to recovering from injury, patience is without a doubt one of the most important virtues. Both Middleton and the Bucks clearly aren’t rushing anything here as they just look to bring their start swingman back when he’s ready:
“Sometimes things change but so far I’ve been on pace with everything that I’ve been doing,” he said. “So, we’ll go over the schedule again, see where I’m at, see how I feel and just keep track of things that way. I don’t want to set a hard date of when I’ll be out there because it’s all about feel and comfort. And they’ve been doing a great job of just making sure every step of the way I’ve been feeling great and feeing like myself. And so far I have been.”
At this point, though, Middleton’s status for the Sixers game on October 26 remains up in the air.
