Khris Middleton’s revenge season for the Milwaukee Bucks is still on hold. Right now, the two-time All-Star is still working his way back to game shape following an injury-riddled 2022-23 campaign.
Bucks head coach recently provided a timely update on Middleton’s injury status ahead of the upcoming season, and you could say that it’s a bit of a mixed bag.
Milwaukee Bucks HC Provides Khris Middleton Update
Speaking after Wednesday’s practice session, Griffin revealed that Middleton has yet to progress to 5-on-5 work. The silver lining, however, is that he seems to be trending in the right direction:
“Not live on the court, but he’s been very productive with his individual workouts and he’s been working his way towards getting back to more 5-on-5 live basketball,” Griffin told reporters, via Sportsnaut.
Coach Griffin has decided to take a glass-half-full approach here. The new season does not start until three weeks, which according to the Milwaukee shot-caller, gives Middleton more than enough time to get himself ready:
“We got time on our side,” Griffin said. “We’re just being smart and he’s been working diligently to get back, so that’s the plan.”
Will Khris Middleton Be Ready for Season Opener?
The Bucks open their season on October 26 in a highly-anticipated matchup against Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers. When asked if he believes Middleton will be ready for that contest, all Griffin said is that “we’re being smart right now.”
You have to note that Griffin used the phrase “being smart” three times during his update. Whether or not this bodes well for Middleton’s chances of being ready for the first game of the season is anybody’s guess at this point.
