Milwaukee Bucks fans got their first taste of Doc Rivers at the helm on Monday night. It did not deliver the desired result, however, with the Bucks falling to the defending champs Denver Nuggets, 113-107.
There’s no denying, however, that there were a lot of positives from Monday’s defeat, including the notion that Doc Rivers’ brand of basketball appears to be a great fit for the Bucks.
Khris Middleton Speaks Out on Doc Rivers’ Milwaukee Bucks Rotation
As expected, there were going to be some significant changes in the rotation now that Rivers is in charge. For starters, Rookie Andre Jackson Jr. and MarJon Beauchamp did not see action against the Nuggets. Both players carved out respective roles in Adrian Griffin’s rotation, with Jackson, in particular, even getting the occasional start.
Khris Middleton saw his usual load on Monday night. He logged 30 minutes and finished with 14 points on 6-of-10 shooting, to go along with eight rebounds, three assists, a block, and two triples. After the game, the three-time All-Star acknowledged Rivers’ new rotational scheme — something that Middleton is clearly on board with:
“He must have saw something where ‘this is one of the first things I want to do and see,’” Middleton told Jim Owczarski of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “I think it worked out I think t was great. Unfortunately we just didn’t win the game.”
As Middleton said, the big takeaway here is that the Bucks still lost. Then again, we all knew that the issues on this team weren’t going to get resolved overnight.
It’s still a long road ahead for the Bucks and Rivers will have more than enough opportunities to really prove his worth.
