The Milwaukee Bucks will be without the services of Khris Middleton again on Friday night when they face the Chicago Bulls. This will mark the three-time All-Star’s 10th straight game on the sidelines as he continues to deal with a nagging ankle injury.
Bucks head coach Doc Rivers spoke to the press ahead of Friday’s game, and he was able to provide a crucial update on Middleton’s injury status — one that should give fans a lot of optimism about the 32-year-old’s seemingly imminent return.
Milwaukee Bucks Head Coach Doc Rivers’ Khris Middleton Update
Rivers said earlier this week that there was a chance Middleton was going to be able to join the squad for this current two-game road trip. This was not the case, though, with the Bucks ultimately opting to have the 6-foot-7 small forward remain in Milwaukee to rehab his ankle.
The good news, though, is that Middleton has been ramping up his activity ahead of his return to action. This comes via team reporter Jim Owczarski of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:
“Bucks head coach Doc Rivers said Khris Middleton went through an intense workout in Milwaukee yesterday, so he didn’t think the forward would be available tonight,” Owczarski reported.
Unfortunately, Rivers still wasn’t able to provide a firm timetable for Middleton’s return to the court. However, the fact that he went through an “intense” practice session on Thursday only means that he’s getting close.
The Bucks return to action on Monday to host the Los Angeles Clippers, and it’s very much possible that Middleton will be available for that home game. Milwaukee will then embark on a four-game California road trip to face off against the Golden State Warriors, the Los Angeles Lakers, the Clippers again, and the Sacramento Kings. Hopefully, Middleton will be available to help his team for that tough stretch.
