Jae Crowder won’t be available on Thursday when the Milwaukee Bucks host the Boston Celtics at the Fiserv Forum in what should be a mouth-water affair between two of the top teams in the Eastern Conference. The veteran swingman is still working his way back from a significant groin injury, but it appears that Crowder is now extremely close to returning to action.
Milwaukee Bucks Coach Adrian Griffin Comments on Jae Crowder’s Return from Injury
Bucks head coach Adrian Griffin spoke to reporters on Wednesday, and the first-year shot-caller was able to provide a crucial update on Crowder’s current status. The 33-year-old work was recently cleared for 5-on-5 work in practice, and it appears that this significant step came without a hitch.
“It went great,” Griffin said, via Eric Nehm of The Athletic. “I watched it in entirety. He was able to get some good contact. Responded well this morning. So he’s progressing quite well. It was good to see him out there.”
Unfortunately, Griffin was not able to provide a definitive target date for Crowder’s upcoming return, but this update seems to point to the fact that the veteran should be back in the lineup sooner rather than later.
Crowder was sent to the Wisconsin Herd, the Bucks’ NBA G League affiliate, on Tuesday, and the expectation was he was going to play a game or two with the team before re-joining the Bucks. As it turns out, however, Crowder was quickly recalled back to the Bucks after just one practice session with Wisconsin.
Crowder is now in his eighth week on the sidelines. His initial injury timetable indicated that he would be back in six to eight weeks.
