The Milwaukee Bucks made it back-to-back wins against the Detroit Pistons on Monday night with a hard-fought 122-113 victory on the road.
This was the second time these two teams played in the span of three nights, and ultimately, the Bucks made sure that they were going to get the same result on Monday against the league-worst Pistons.
Giannis Antetokounmpo Sounds Off on Milwaukee Bucks’ Win
Giannis Antetokounmpo entered this game with a probable tag as he continues to deal with a lingering shoulder injury. He looked fine yet again, though, finishing with another triple-double. The former back-to-back MVP logged a team-high 31 points on 11-of-25 shooting, 17 rebounds, 10 assists, three steals, and two blocks in 36 minutes of action.
To their credit, the Pistons kept the game close pretty much from start to finish. However, the Bucks took it up a notch in the final minutes as they gave themselves some much-needed separation down the stretch.
Giannis noted after the game how important this run was for the Bucks as they continue to build on their chemistry throughout the campaign:
“I felt like guys trusted one another,” Antetokounmpo said, via Jim Owczarski of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “From the pass to Brook when he trailed, from the pass to the corner with ‘Beas’ when he hit the three, from the pass (from) Khris when they double-teamed and he replaced to my side instead of going to the other side, we just know how to play with another, we know how to execute down the stretch. At the end of the day, sometimes you’re going to make shots. Today, we made some shots. Some days we’re going to do exactly the same and we’re going to miss shots. But at the end of the day it’s the execution – we shot clean looks.”
The Bucks took care of business twice against the Pistons and now they will need to do it again against a more formidable foe. Milwaukee now heads back home to host the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday and Friday and surely, these two games will put their new-found rhythm to the test.
You have to remember that the Bucks are coming off their worst loss of the season on January 17 against the Cavs after they were humiliated in Cleveland, 135-95. Giannis will definitely have that defeat in mind come Wednesday, especially since he wasn’t able to suit up the last time against Donovan Mitchell and Co.
