As far as game-winners go, Damian Lillard’s buzzer-beater for the Milwaukee Bucks on Sunday night has got to rank up there as one of the best. Giannis Antetokounmpo certainly seems to think so.
In fact, the former back-to-back MVP came out with an all-encompassing statement claiming Dame’s buzzer-beater was the best he’s ever seen in his career as a Buck.
Damian Lillard Made Milwaukee Bucks History, Per Giannis Antetokounmpo
Antetokounmpo was one of the first players to celebrate with Lillard as soon as the ball hit the bottom of the net. Giannis was clearly excited after that epic moment. I mean, who wouldn’t be, right?
The Bucks talisman’s exhilaration spilled over to his post-game interview as Antetokounmpo made a massive declaration about Dame’s game-winner:
“I’ve been with the team 11 years, that’s arguably the best buzzer-beater shot ever made (during that time),” Antetokounmpo said, via Eric Nehm of The Athletic. “And he’s been on the team for 40 games. Would you guys disagree with me?”
That’s a pretty bold statement, to say the least.
Giannis himself has hit multiple game-winning baskets throughout his time with the Bucks, but even he would admit that Lillard’s heroics on Sunday night stands out among the rest.
“For Dame, guys, he caught it from the other side of the court, dribbled down full speed, in and out dribble, sidestep from the logo, and knocked it down off balance. For me, it’s the best,” Giannis said.
Who are we to argue against Giannis?
