Giannis Antetokounmpo rolled his ankle pretty badly in the first quarter of Tuesday’s win over the New York Knicks. Being the trooper that he is, however, the Milwaukee Bucks superstar played through the knock and was able to lead his team to a 146-122 quarterfinal victory in the NBA In-Season Tournament.
It doesn’t seem like the ankle is going to be a problem for Giannis moving forward, which is obviously tremendous news for Bucks fans everywhere.
Milwaukee Bucks Coach Speaks Out on Giannis’ Injury
Giannis suffered the injury in the opening quarter of Tuesday’s contest when he landed on Julius Randle’s foot after tipping in a shot. To be honest, it looked pretty bad at the onset:

Thankfully, it did not seem like the ankle bothered Giannis all night. He was able to dominate the Knicks with a team-high 35 points on 15-of-22 shooting, to go along with eight rebounds, 10 assists, and three steals in 34 minutes of play.
After the game, Milwaukee shot-caller Adrian Griffin lauded his superstar’s resiliency:
“Giannis is a winner,” Griffin said, via Eric Nehm of The Athletic. “He’s been in these situations before. He’s a leader. He’s another extension of the coaching staff on the floor, directing traffic and making plays. I mean, that’s what the great ones do. They’re able to make plays and he was fantastic tonight.”
Giannis, who is currently averaging 5.2 dimes per game, tied his season-high for assists on Tuesday night. He also dished out 10 helpers in Milwaukee’s last contest — a win over the Atlanta Hawks on Saturday — which now has him recording back-to-back double-digit assists games.
No wonder Coach Griff was left impressed by the Greek Freak’s playmaking against the Knicks. Among other things, of course.
