The Milwaukee Bucks took care of business on Thursday night with a commanding 135-102 statement win over the Boston Celtics. It was a good way for the Bucks to get out of their funk — or at least this is what they’re hoping for — after losing four of their first five games in 2024.
It doesn’t get much easier for the Bucks, though, with a matchup against Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors up next on Saturday night.
Milwaukee Bucks Star Giannis Antetokounmpo Sounds Off on Win
Giannis Antetokounmpo had some relatively light work on Thursday, playing just 26 minutes in their blowout win. He finished with 24 points on a highly efficient 10-of-13 shooting, to go along with 12 rebounds, six assists, a steal, and a block.
At this point, Giannis wants his team to carry this momentum as they prepare to host Curry and Co. on Saturday:
“I feel like the team after this win, I feel like the team came together,” Giannis said, via Gabe Stoltz of Brew Hoop. “I feel like our chemistry is better. I feel like we needed this. I think we believe in one another now. And hopefully, we can carry over.
“I don’t know if it’s gonna carry over, but as a leader, as a player on this team, I want this to carry over. And I think we can do it. We have to go tomorrow and watch film, take care of our bodies, and hopefully, come Golden State, we can play with the same energy, and same focus and try to win that game.”
The Warriors haven’t fared much better in the new year either, going 2-3 in their first five games in January. They are also coming off a 141-105 blowout loss to the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday and will be playing the second night of a back-to-back set when they battle the Bucks on Saturday (the Dubs face the Chicago Bulls on Friday).
With a lot of momentum on their side, Giannis wants his team to take advantage of the opportunity to try and build on their dominant win against the league-best Celtics.
