There was no upset on Thursday night as the Milwaukee Bucks took care of business against the Orlando Magic. It was a hard-fought game that went back and forth, though, with the Magic forcing the Bucks to earn every ounce of their 118-114 victory.
It wasn’t the prettiest of victories for a surging Milwaukee side but at the end of the day, it was still the Bucks who came home with the W to mark their 21st victory of the season.
Giannis Antetokounmpo Reacts to Milwaukee Bucks’ Win Over Magic
Giannis Antetokounmpo was his usually dominant self on Thursday. The seven-time All-Star finished with a game-high 37 points on 11-of-25 shooting, to go along with 10 rebounds, six assists, and two blocks.
After the game, Giannis conceded that it was far from a perfect performance from his Bucks. However, as always, the former back-to-back MVP highlighted the silver lining of the victory:
“It doesn’t really matter all the time if it’s ugly, pretty – what matters is being able to build good habits,” Antetokounmpo said, via Jim Owczarski of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “There was times, at times, that we built good habits today and there were times we didn’t. Being sloppy, wasn’t in the right position. I think a lot of the shots that we took, they were very difficult shots. We have to be able to create easier shots, more high percentage shots for our team.”
The Magic have been one of the biggest surprises of the season thus far, but the fact of the matter is that Orlando is not expected to be a contender this year. The Bucks were able to carve out a win despite their shortcomings on Thursday night, which is also a bit of a knock on the Magic for not letting their opponents pay for their mishaps.
The Bucks won’t always get away with it, especially against more formidable opponents. As Giannis said, however, a win is still a win.
