Milwaukee Bucks superstar Damian Lillard is one of the most clutch players in NBA history. If anyone has any doubt about this notion, then all you’d have to do is show him or her what the seven-time All-Star did on Sunday night to defeat the Sacramento Kings.
Lillard’s game-winning buzzer-beater in overtime against the Kings was so impressive that Giannis Antetokounmpo could not help but sing his teammate’s high praises in his post-game interview.
Milwaukee Bucks Star Giannis Antetokounmpo Gives Dame His Flowers
Needless to say, Giannis was truly delighted by what he saw from Lillard on Sunday. This showed in the way Antetokounmpo celebrated with Dame right after the ball hit the bottom of the net, as well as with how much high praise Antetokounmpo had for his superstar point guard after the massive win:
“I know what this guy’s capable of doing,” Antetokounmpo said, via Eric Nehm of The Athletic. “And that’s why down the stretch we were all looking for him. Every handoff, every pick-and-roll was Dame initiating it because that’s what he does. Down the stretch. He excels. He thrives down the stretch and he showed it tonight, man.
“This is not gonna be the (only) time (he does) this, he’s going to hit many more shots like this. It might not be a buzzer-beater, maybe it might be we go up one or two, but that’s what he does. And we all trust him that he’s going to do that for us.”
Lillard won’t be making 100% of the attempts he takes during crunch time. In fact, he’s certainly going to miss a few of them down the line which will cost Milwaukee the game.
Nevertheless, as made evident by his statement above, Giannis and the Bucks are more than happy to defer to Lillard in the clutch 100% of the time. Without any hesitation whatsoever.
