You have to commend the Milwaukee Bucks for putting up a formidable effort to come back from the dead on Wednesday night against the Boston Celtics. From being up by double digits until late in the fourth quarter, Boston allowed the Bucks to cut down the lead to just three points in the dying moments of the high-profile contest.
That was as close Milwaukee would get, though, and the Celtics eventually sealed the win, 119-116.
Giannis Antetokounmpo Vocal on Milwaukee Bucks’ Lack of Effort Vs. Celtics
After the loss, a disappointed Giannis Antetokounmpo got brutally honest with his assessment of his team’s performance on the evening. According to the Bucks talisman, Milwaukee was doomed from the get-go following their slow start:
“We didn’t come out ready, simple as that,” Antetokounmpo said, via Jim Owczarski of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “They came out ready to play. They made a couple shots. We kind of eased into the game and when you play a good team you cannot do that.”
He could not have said it more plainly. The Bucks can count themselves lucky that Boston even gave them a chance to try and get back late in the game. The Celtics failed to execute on both ends in the fourth quarter, which gave Giannis and Co. a glimmer of hope.
Had it not been for Boston’s late-game collapse, this would have been an ugly blowout.

I think the blame for lack of effort and focus in the Bucks loss to the Celtics is squarely on Giannis. He looked tentative, and lost the ball multiple times. He could have made the difference between a loss and a win, but he didn’t show up.
