After logging their fifth straight win on Friday against the Chicago Bulls, the Milwaukee Bucks are now back to second in the Eastern Conference with a 40-21 record.
With three-quarters of the regular season already in the books, the Bucks have a firm hold as one of the top teams in the East. The thing is, though, that their schedule only gets tougher from here on out. Milwaukee is set to face a lot of above-.500 teams in their remaining 21 games, making it a challenging home stretch for Giannis Antetokounmpo and Co.
Doc Rivers Vocal on Milwaukee Bucks’ Tough Schedule Ahead
Head coach Doc Rivers was recently asked to comment on his team’s upcoming stretch. When questioned if he’d rather have an easy or tough schedule to end the season, the one-time NBA champion shot-caller got brutally honest in his response:
“I’d rather close the season having clinched everything a month in advance,” he said, via Eric Nehm of The Athletic. “That’s what I’d rather have, but that’s not going to happen. You know, it’s funny, I just want to close the season healthy, number one. And then us understanding how we have to play to win games.”
As Rivers said, the perfect scenario would be to have everything in order by the time April comes around. However, even he knows that this is close to impossible.
As such, the tenured coach will instead just focus on making sure that his team is ready for what’s ahead. There’s no point mulling over things they cannot control. The best thing to do, as he said, is to be prepared for what’s coming.
The Bucks are still far from a perfect team and they now have 21 games to try to get as close to this as they possibly can before the postseason commences.
