There’s a lot of pressure on Doc Rivers to perform now that he’s taken on the job of being the Milwaukee Bucks’ new head coach. It only follows that the tenured coach will naturally have to pass on some of this pressure on his players as he demands to get the best out of them.
As it turns out, Rivers is wasting no time in this regard as he’s made sure to squeeze every bit out of the team’s practices since he took over the helm.
Doc Rivers Asking a Lot From His Milwaukee Bucks Players
The fact that the Bucks are currently on an extended five-game road trip makes life even more difficult for both Rivers and his players. They need to travel from city to city throughout this stretch, which takes away crucial days from Rivers’ tenure early on.
As such, Rivers has somewhat converted his team’s morning shootarounds to impromptu practice sessions — something that he knows isn’t sustainable in the long run:
“Our shootarounds have been long and I know that,” Rivers said before a 123-108 loss to the Utah Jazz on Sunday, via Eric Nehm of The Athletic. “I can probably get away with that for another week or two until they stop liking them, so we’re going to take advantage of it.”
The good news for the Bucks is that they head back home to Milwaukee after Tuesday’s game in Phoenix against the Suns. They play their next four games at home, although both will come on back-to-back nights.
Nevertheless, this should give Rivers the opportunity to finally get some fluidity with regard to his practice schedule with his new team. This should work wonders for the Bucks.
