One of the things head coach Doc Rivers has been doing differently as compared to former Milwaukee Bucks shot-caller Adrian Griffin is that the former has leaned more on his veterans. This has been a significant change for the Bucks, which has affected the respective roles their young players have had since Rivers took over.
Be that as it may, the tenured coach recently revealed that at least one of Milwaukee’s young studs will have a pivotal role on the squad moving forward.
Milwaukee Bucks Coach Doc Rivers Speaks Out on A.J. Griffin, Andre Jackson Jr.
Rivers was recently asked about his commitment to shifting to a more vet-heavy rotation since he took over the helm. The one-time NBA champion coach acknowledged his inclination to this particular approach but at the same, he time expressed his intention to incorporate a couple of the team’s young players into the rotation:
“It was because we were making all the changes,” Rivers said of his decision to lean more , via Eric Nehm of The Athletic. “We just felt like the shorter the rotation with that, the better run. AJ plays, so we still had him in and Dre will probably have a chance here or there as well. But I will say one of those two guys will absolutely be a guy that helps us moving forward. I have no doubt about that.”
While Rivers didn’t explicitly state his support for Green, it is clear that it is the second-year shooting guard who has played a more significant role as compared to Jackson.
Green has still had a few healthy DNPs since Coach Doc took over, but he’s averaged 13.9 minutes per contest. Jackson, on the other hand, has just made four brief appearances in the past 10 games.
Based on this trend, it appears that it’s Green who’s going to figure significantly in the rotation moving forward.
