It’s hard to be a Milwaukee Bucks fan of late. Despite a stellar cast, the Bucks enter the All-Star break with plenty of questions surrounding the team. And with another upset loss (113-110) on Thursday at the hands of the Memphis Grizzlies, people are once again left wondering whether it was right for the Bucks to go with Doc Rivers after firing Adrian Griffin.
The Milwaukee Bucks Are Trending In the Wrong Direction With Doc Rivers
Regardless of how one feels about Rivers, it’s hard to deny the result so far of the marriage with the NBA champion head coach. The Bucks are 3-7 after 10 games with Rivers and some of their advanced stats have gotten worse compared to their numbers prior to his arrival in Milwaukee.

The Bucks’ offense seems to have taken the biggest hit since the start of the Rivers era. Before Rivers, Milwaukee was second overall in the NBA with an offensive rating of 120.4. That’s gone down to 23rd when isolating the games under Rivers. Defensively, the Bucks went from 19th before Rivers to 11th in games with their new head coach. But the apparent improvement on defense isn’t enough to offset the issues offensively, as highlighted by the net rating stated above.
There are issues the Milwaukee Bucks have to solve sooner than later, and the All-Star break gives them ample time to fix what’s wrong in time for the second half of the 2023-24 NBA season.
