The Milwaukee Bucks failed to get the job done in Doc Rivers’ second game calling the shots from the sidelines, as they suffered an upset 119-116 road loss Wednesday night at the hands of the Portland Trail Blazers. One crucial moment that helped spell the doom of the Bucks in the game was Brook Lopez’s missed 3-point shot that many thought should have been taken by Damian Lillard instead.
Doc Rivers Reacts To Brook Lopez’s 3-Point Shot in Milwaukee Bucks Loss To Blazers
With the Bucks down by a point and with under 20 seconds remaining in regulation, Lillard got pressured by the Blazers’ defense and was forced to pass the ball to Lopez. The Milwaukee Bucks big man then faked a shot before deciding to go for it from deep even though he had a chance to get the ball back to Lillard, who’s always been known for his scoring prowess in the clutch. Unfortunately for Lopez and the Bucks, his shot did not find the bottom of the net, leading to a Blazers rebound.

After the game, Rivers sounded off about the play.
Via Blazer Banter:
“The look was for Dame. Let me say that. We wanted Dame to take that and be aggressive…I thought Brook was open but then he pumpfaked, that’s when I thought he should have gotten off the ball.”
Lopez finished the game with 19 points and might have had enough confidence to take that high-pressure shot because he had been shooting the ball well from deep before that. He went 7/14 from the field and 4/10 from behind the arc overall in the contest. Lillard, on the other hand, shot just 9/23 from the floor (3/13 from deep) and 4/4 from the foul line for an inefficient 25 points.
