The Milwaukee Bucks are on a free fall, as they failed to prevent a three-game losing skid on Thursday when they suffered a 129-105 home loss at the hands of the Minnesota Timberwolves. However, the Bucks were also missing a couple of key players, with Damian Lillard and Khris Middleton out with injuries. That’s not to mention that they traded away Cameron Payne ahead of Thursday’s deadline for Patrick Beverley, who was not able to suit up right away. Robin Lopez was already dealt before the game to the Sacramento Kings.
With such a thin roster, the Milwaukee Bucks simply did not have enough to survive one of the best teams in the league today — something that Doc Rivers seemed to have already seen before tipoff.
Via the Associated Press (h/t ESPN):
Rivers said he thought before the game he might rest his top players if the Bucks fell behind by 18 to 20 points. Friday will mark the Bucks’ fifth game in a seven-day stretch.
“It was almost one of those things where you thought before the game, maybe sit all of them,” Rivers said. “But at least they got that out of them now. Hopefully we’ll be better tomorrow, and hopefully we’ll get guys back tomorrow.”
Giannis Antetokounmpo played just 27 minutes and finished with 17 points and seven assists, while guys like Jae Crowder, Patt Connaughton, and even AJ Green got an increased run on the floor. Green, in particular, made the most of his playing time by going off for 27 points on the strength of an impressive outside shooting. He went 7/8 from deep and 9/11 from the floor overall in just 22 minutes.
What’s Next For The Struggling Milwaukee Bucks?
The hope is that the Milwaukee Bucks will be healthier when they give it a go again this Friday versus the visiting Charlotte Hornets.
The Bucks are at 33-19 and 1-5 since Rivers started calling the shots for the team.
