It’s no secret that Damian Lillard is a great and talented shooter from downtown. And after the Milwaukee Bucks’ starting guard conquered this year’s All-Star 3-Point Contest, it can’t be denied anymore how much of a threat he is from beyond the perimeter.
Last year, Lillard went against Tyrese Haliburton and Buddy Hield in the final round to win the 3-Point Contest. This year, the Bucks star entered the contest again and bested other players like Haliburton, Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns, Trae Young, Donovan Mitchell, Lauri Markkanen, and Malik Beasley.
In the final round this year, Lillard faced Young and Towns after beating all the other participants. The Bucks’ All-Star guard drained four shots in a row before going cold in some racks.
By the end, Lillard’s final shot went in from beyond the 3-point line, ensuring his victory over his opponents. This makes Lillard among the few who won twice in a row for this particular contest.
Milwaukee Bucks’ Damian Lillard Gets Real On Referees Officiating 3-Point Contest
After the contest, Lillard blasts the referees for their officiating. In a video posted on X:
Damian Lillard: “I see the referees out here, but they ain’t enforcing no rules. I seen a couple rules getting broke.” pic.twitter.com/xI1xC13yFO
— Oh no he didn’t (@ohnohedidnt24) February 18, 2024
Lillard’s claim can be seen in a photo posted on X where Town was stepping on the line. As this is happening, a refereed was also in the photo and he didn’t call out the All-Star big man’s lapse.

Throughout his 12-year run in the NBA, Lillard has averaged 37 percent from the three-point line. His best performance from downtown came during the 2019-20 season when he connected 40 percent of his 10.2 attempts from deep.
It remains to be seen whether the league will take action on the referees. What’s certain, though, is that even with those mistakes, Dame Time still came out on top of the 3-Point Contest this year.
