After winning back-to-back games against the Charlotte Hornets and Denver Nuggets, there was an expectation for the Milwaukee Bucks to extend that streak to three victories. The thing is, they got decimated by the Miami Heat, a franchise once linked to Damian Lillard, the team’s starting point guard.
In that particular game, the Heat handled business without Jimmy Butler, their best player on the roster. Sophomore Nikola Jovic led the way by dropping 24 points and seven rebounds, while Duncan Robinson notched 23 points on 75 percent shooting from beyond the arc.
Over at the Bucks’ side of things, Giannis Antetokounmpo led his team by posting 23 points, 11 rebounds, and eight assists in 33 minutes on the floor. Meanwhile, Lillard added 16 points and five assists.
By the end of the game, the Bucks found themselves on the losing side with a score of 123-97. This loss is now the the sixth out of the nine games under Doc Rivers’ coaching gig for Milwaukee.
Damian Lillard Gets Real On How the Miami Heat Decimated the Milwaukee Bucks
After the game, Lillard went on and aired his side about the loss to Miami. In a report by the Journal Sentinel and tweeted by Jim Owczarski on X:
“It was a lot of off the ball movement,” Lillard said of the Heat’s offensive success. “They had a lot of actions where they had as smaller guy in the dunker and they were rolling them down the middle ‘cause they were kind of positioning our smaller guy to be the guy to lift up against him and you know, we just keeping coming in because we knew that we were outmatched with the size and they were just spraying the ball around.
“I think it was just the movement. Duncan Robinson, Herro, they were just kind of running around a lot of the ball. See a couple go in, and our offense didn’t really help our defense. We was in a lot of scramble situations where we were behind the play and they shot the ball well. “Sometimes it’s like that, but I thought it was some things we could’ve done better to maybe disrupt they offense a little bit. But they got going.”
The Bucks will face the Memphis Grizzlies, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Philadelphia 76ers in the coming days. With their loss to a Jimmy Butler-less Miami Heat team, it’s expected that Milwaukee will be more motivated to get a win against their upcoming opponents.
