Giannis Antetokounmpo admitted after Sunday’s huge win over the Sacramento Kings that he pretty much bear-hugged Milwaukee Bucks teammate Damian Lillard after the latter hit an insane buzzer-beater in overtime to secure a win for the Bucks.
Dame has now broken his silence over the incident and it appears that it wasn’t a very pleasant experience for him.
Milwaukee Bucks Star Damian Lillard Admits He Almost Got Choked Out
To say that Giannis was excited about Lillard’s game-winner would be an understatement. In fact, the former back-to-back MVP said that this was the greatest buzzer-beater he’s ever seen in his career.
Anteotkounmpo’s exhilaration was on full display as he grabbed Lillard from behind as they celebrated the win:

At one point, you can clearly see Giannis’ right arm locked over Lillard’s neck. Apparently, Dame felt the full strength of the 6-foot-11 forward:
“He started tapping his wrist when he was running towards me, and then he almost choked me out,” Lillard said, via Lori Nickel of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “After the game he was just like, ‘You know I never seen a tough shot like that, running for speed and you kind of sidestep, fading from deep.’
Thankfully, Giannis eventually let go and Dame was able to carry on with his Dame Time celly.
Lillard then admitted that the degree of difficulty of his shot was immense. However, the seven-time All-Star revealed that he practices those types of shots day in and day out. This is exactly why he’s able to make it look easy.
“For me, I train and I work on these types of things,” Lillard said. “So when I do it, it doesn’t feel as difficult as it looks. And then…when I see it, I’m like, that does look really difficult. But I mean, I’ve got a lot of reps at shots like that. So it looks a certain way to the person that’s watching. It doesn’t feel that way.”
